For our opening concert we are delighted to welcome renowned young pianist Clare Hammond, whose scheduled performance last March fell victim to Covid. Acclaimed as a pianist of “amazing power and panache” by The Telegraph, Clare has been recognised for the virtuosity and authority of her performances and has developed a “reputation for brilliantly imaginative concert programmes” (BBC Music Magazine). Performances during the pandemic included a live recital broadcast for BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts from St David’s Cardiff, recitals at Snape Maltings for Aldeburgh Music, and a broadcast of Carwithen’s piano concerto with the BBC Concert Orchestra. She also contributed a video performance for Strathearn Arts’ online SOFA festival last summer, and we are very much looking forward to hearing her play live.
